we have recorded counting stars and also have leant some piano techniques if using different places on keyboard for different tone levels. also we did a couple run throughs with 2 different drummers and me doing keyboard.

today, i have learnt the basics of garageband and also started to add guitar and different drums to start a song roughly around 30 seconds, my weakness is right now creating lyrics for the song and and also the lyrics theme and pitch of each drum. i was planning on having it be a dual part song with me doing 2 separate parts, a normal tone and a harmonic part. there is a set of guitar chords that interest me and the 3 chords played on guitar that will lighten up a song mood so it is a sturdy drum part on verse combined with a acoustic guitar part which i will possibly have some lyrics by the end of next lessons.

i have learnt how to make a song sound more like a reggae song and have smooth guitar chords within chorus with a working combination on drums and relaxing beat and i am now focusing on the emphasis on 2 and 4 but avoiding 1 and 3 to be honest

in Wednesdays lesson on the 4th October, I had I started to get a idea for 12 bar blues since I cant make reggae style music in garage band so I decided to make that my 1 of the theme less songs that I am composing and miss realised that it sounded a little like country music

i have changed the guitar part a little so then some of it was me doing a combination of effective notes on it and i chose the theme of the song.

me and sir have figured out how we are creating 12 bar blues by using a bass note and adding a series of notes on top of it to create a blues style song.
first half term review
this term I have attempted to create a reggae style effect but I think 12 bar blues is what would do best for me since I have managed to create 12 bars of bass notes so I just need to figure out the 12 bars of notes to go on top of it for the blues piece. meanwhile, on song 1 I have finished the instrumentals and need to add lyrics to the piece. I think song 1 will be finished by the due date but lyrics may take till mid November so I can maybe improve instrumental a little before due date, this means that I am going to have to now fuscous on the lyrics to complete song 1 and maybe improve before due date.

i have finally completed the instrumentals and am going to start lyrics, i think that since it is a upbeat song, i should think of lyrics with more happier topics than sad releated topics

i had a problem with ipad's battery so i could not use my ipad until p5 so that is when i will be composing and i will write up new lyrics later in the lesson.

I have been trying to use new hand positions in piano lessons with sir and am starting to get used to the new positions in pieces like indian dance and i have got a lot better at the piece sailors hornpipe.

in this lesson I have managed to finally remember something really important. it is the chords order in 12 bar blues and I am going to keep to that order in the sets of notes I have.

in the music lesson I had got used to the d position on the piano now because I have been using it in 3 or 4 pieces like Indian dance and driving force and starting to switch between c and d position on piano in a new piece

I have made lots of progress in Tuesdays lesson by adding a drum part to make it better for the song and have got bar set 1 done into the song. I have also got a plan for what to do next week. in my piano lesson, I have got used to switching hand positions with my right hand in the middle of a song so I will be doing more complex pieces from now on in piano lessons.

I have got a drum part flowing well and getting new piano parts in so I don't repeat over and over again so it wont get boring. I the piano 20 minute session on Thursday, I have nearly got the hang of 1 piece and starting to know another well.

the second set and third set is nearly complete fully and I will have them done in the next lesson most likely done by the first half. on the piano session on Thursday I have nearly have completed a song without mistakes and am working on a change of hand positions quickly on the other one I am doing.
26/2/28 in Tuesdays lesson, I was making sure that the time of the rhythm in the song is correct and fixed errors and made something using A major scale instead of a minor in my blues song.

in Tuesdays and Wednesdays lesson I have had help sorting out the metronome on garage band computer so now I think I will get lyrics done on the blues song and then I think I finished that piece

in Tuesdays lesson I had a metronome to time it perfectly into the piece and on Wednesday I managed to get an idea on how to get it completed but someone was on the mac I needed to use on Thursday so I could unfortunately not show sir the piece to see what I can do but on Saturday I was getting ideas on how to finish it by using my keyboard and was trying to get an idea for the next piece

on Tuesday, I have got a steady beat and know how to get a new beat in a song now and I have got to do just the lyrics and song 3 will be finished, I also think the genre of this song is rock but not exactly sure what type though.

in the lesson I have managed to create multiple parts for the song to make it sound better and will make it to be able to be over 2.25 minutes so then it will add up to 9 minutes

I have managed to have a look at song 3 and fix a problem with the song because some of it didn't sound correct and I was able to fix that and quite a few almost unnoticed note clashes that caused it.

I have magaged to get a tone done on song 4 because it was at 55 bars complete and I wanted it to be around 65-70 bars in total so I managed to get that sorted out and it sounded in time and correct but i think there could be a few improvements

in the lesson i was dusting up the music I had made so far so it would be much better because I have to go back to improve them every hour and then because I don't want one song to be great and another not so good because I want to make the most of the time I can to compose the music and in Thursdays piano lesson, I managed to show sir my song and we were making a few improvements and fixed some notation clashes and also I know what to do for next time thanks to sirs advice.
Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd may
I was able to get a lot of the improvements done that sir pointed out like big note clashes and other bits like that in songs 3 and 4 but then on Wednesday we had to spend half the lesson getting the mac working properly with help but then I managed to fix the problems song 3 and 4 had but the structure of 4 is being improved when I can and the next half term is back to sorting out song 2 then that be a complete 11 minutes when I can finish song 1.

I have practically only got the instrumentals fixing to do for the blues song and will be able to continue song 5 and I have been thinking 1 idea that I could put in there.

in Tuesdays lesson I had increased the tempo so the song overall to make it a lot better in effect and have a structure for the instrumentals because in Wednesdays lesson I also was focusing on a chorus that worked effectively and made the roots rock guitar on it sounded a lot better with some effect which I do not know about that I did for the better

In the lesson I have been improving a few of the problems in the song but I also have been sorting out lyrics for composition and as soon as that is in I will complete the blues song fully since a lot needs to be done

in Thursdays lesson last week, I have worked on the blues song for the 1st hour then done some work on the other songs which I can safely say are almost complete instrumental wise but I will be adding lyrics as soon as the songs are finished instrumental wise and fully focus on the blues song for now since that is a priority to finish.

at the start of this year, I technically had no idea on how a am going to compose 15 minutes of music and I tried to make a composition on the I pad, and I was having a lot of trouble making some better music so then I started using the studio macs and then I could focus on compositions so then I started being more creative and could make my music a lot better and learned about note clashes and what a normal structure of a song is and how to compose with inspiration so now I am able to make ideas and make sure errors do not go unnoticed

during the last few weeks i changed some songs by changing the key and i have completed verse 1 and 2 along with choruses of a new song which should make it so then the 15 minutes are met and i also worked with my piano teacher on the blues song to tidy up the song and get all of the timing correct and any notes out of place to avoid clashes

i have been going through a new piece with sir which is divided into 2 similar parts and i have worked on all 5 songs and got lyrics for my blues composition and have nearly reached the 15 minutes and i have only got the lyrics to record in for the blues composition before its complete and i may use these in a future album
